Standing outside Jester's house demanding the things he took from my underwear drawer.

Turned 31 just 2 days ago. Bought myseld a DCM status for my B'day.

Just to let you guys know how cool my wife is. Last year I got a Devilfish/Firewarrior combo box from her for my birthday. This year she asked me if I wanted more figs.  I think I'll get that elusive 5th Landraider.  I knew I never should have given 2 away.

Sorry I that's a typo on my part.
I'm 130 years old.
I invented miniature games.
My 40k record alone is 1,435,273 - 0 - 1.
For all games in all systems 7,854,336,329 - 4 - 1.
That one game of 40k sucked. We had a rules argument and diced for it. Cost me the game. Magic cylinder my foot...

Only 24 here.

The oldest player I knew was a guy I saw a few times at Sci-Fi City, back when I lived in Orlando. He looked to be late 50s. He played 40k and I believe he also played fantasy.

I'm 27, but I'm one of the younger members of my gaming group. After seeing and playing with so many kids at the GW stores and FLGS's it's nice to have a more mature, well older, gaming community here at Dakka.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

20. I think I'm on the lower end of the spectrum. But I don't think many people younger than I am will be as forthright about their ages.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

That's why we only see the middling to higher end of posters responding.
That said I think that the crowd here is 'generaly' more weathered.

Yeah, I'm actually a bit surprised about the closeness to my own age most seem to be. I'm 30 (I'm pretty sure). I think jfrazzel made a comment about leaving that sort of thing up to the wife. I'll mirror that. After you're old enough to rent cars is there really a reason to keep track anymore?

My father actually unknowingly got me into it by buying an ork wartrukk (maybe warwagon?) back in the eigthies. That was when they looked more like a hexagonal tub with an engine in back and the cab up front. It came with some boyz and he was just interested in converting it up to look like an Iraqui attack vehicle. He painted the boyz up like Iraqui soldiers and had them hanging on from some scratchbuilt scafolding or whatever. He is pretty well known in the IPMS community as being an incredible scratchbuilder and he will put together a kind of wacky project in between a few serious ones. I think he had just completed an M113 or something. Anyways, he gave me the extra boyz from the set and I immediately fell in love with the look of them. The rest is history.

No, being 65 alows you to rent younger worker's money without returning it.

Yes (besides the obvious things like retirement age) ...

At 35 you can run for president (if you are a US citizen).
At 36 you won't be carded anymore (according to those annoying signs that say 'we ID if you look under 36')
At 40 you are allowed to buy a Chevy Corvette
At 45 you can begin shopping for a trophy wife (assuming you meet the financial requirement)
At 47 you can seriously bore people with stories about your 'portfolio'
At 50 you can wonder what the hell happened to the value of your portfolio
At 51 you can offically no longer care if your clothes match
At 55 you can wear anything you want as long as it doesn't violate obscenity laws
At 60 you are issued your black socks to wear with all shorts
At 65 you are issued a rocking chair, care more about your lawn than family, and develop an intense hatred of 'those kids'

And I used to play the same guy when I was living in the area.  He's the guy that got me started playing 40K.

I'm 25, though I feel like a dakka-old-timer

I personally don't know anyone over 40 who plays the game, but I know dozens of 30+ who will still play when they turn 40... A friend intends to make millions, retire at 40 and become a full-time hobbyist. Sounds like a plan!

I'm 29 and have been playing WHFB and 40k since I was 11.

There are quite alot of players on the Australian tournament scene in their 40's and 50's who got into warhammer when their kids started playing and decided to give it a go to see what the fuss was all about.

Well gald to see that several of you are about my age.  I am 56 soon to be 57 and have been playing War games since the 70's.

Back then it was mostly board games with punch out tiles.  Next came those great 1/72 scale models had a bunch of US and German WW II figures that we used for table top gaming.  Next came card war games in the late 80's and early 90's with a stint in what is now called Classic Battletech back when it was Battletech and the models were plastic and metal.  Then came Mage Knight and Mechwarrior and finally I came to 40K and Warmachine.

I like to build the models and play with them, the painting thing was new to me, but I can not bring myself to play with an unpainted model.

I think I am the oldest member of our group at Sci Fi City, but there are a couple of fellows who are close to my age that come in and play on occasion.

I enjoy these games and try to encourage younger players and newbies as they get started.
