I can’t stop watching videos about the Drake and Kendrick Lamar rap battle. It’s so big and personal and weird that it’s getting coverage on channels totally unrelated to music. And now that someone shot Drake’s security guard in a drive-by, it’s going to blow up in the mainstream.

Kendrick Lamar’s last two tracks put Drake’s career in the Celebrity RIP thread. Which is a win for us all.

All the people who trolled J Cole for stepping out of the beef early are now praising his wisdom.

I have zero interest in rap/hip-hop, but a good beef is always intriguing. I didn't listen to a single "song" from either party during this uproar, but have probably watched like 3+ hours of "react" videos and analysis/commentary from those who are in that industry or rap/hip-hop enthusiasts. Most folks seem to have predicted KL would win from the onset, and it appears so. Drake always seemed like an industry manufactured product to me.

With that said, if you put a gun to my head and told me to name one song from any of these dudes or I'd be executed, I'd just reach up with my finger and pull the trigger for you.

I’ve always found these diss track things kind of childish and of zero interest to me.

But, I just watched a WikiWeekends video which went into some depth.

Given suspicions around Drake and his regular befriending of young actors and artists? You do have to wonder. It is possible he’s just been avuncular with them, offering a supportive adult role, having apparently been a child star himself.

But we don’t live in a world where we really see that sort of thing happening.

Out with the Rap Beef and in with Archeology Beef!

Watched the Flint Dibble/Graham Hancock debate on Joe Rogan’s podcast about lost civilizations. Flint Dibble is a legit archeologist and really went to town displaying evidence/data refuting Grahams lost Ice Age civilization hypothesis.

It was the first that I’ve seen of Graham Hancock being put on the spot like that and I think he got exposed, badly. He had some points about some areas needing more archeological scrutiny, but he flat out admitted there was no evidence of a lost civilization. And seeing other archeologists/historians pre-record video’s saying what Graham gets wrong on certain subjects must’ve been hard for him to take. It got pretty contentious at times, very passive aggressive, but was relatively professional. Rogan was a decent moderator. I’d assumed he’d be more partial to Graham because of their prior relationship, but he asked some questions that you could tell Graham was uneasy with.

I like Grahams stuff in the same way I like UFO’s and Bigfoot/Loch Ness stuff. Its fun to imagine and hypothesize, but once direct evidence is required, it falls apart.

Subscribed to Flint’s archeology Youtube page as a result.
