They've said it's up to the UK and EU teams to decide if they'll sell the dice they've asked and hope they will but they can't make them as each location is independent.

I guess that's cool for people who aren't painting the models.

Well, that’s two I won’t need to buy

Not because I think they suck, but because I got the kickstarter version.

Q: is there anything in Heroquest that expands the actual map board? (ala Advanced Heroquest, or even just a board that sits on the side?)

No but some expansions have tiles that sit over the board to change to layout slightly but by and large it's the same board. It's a 34 year old boardgame that they did very little to update with the new version so it is what it is (or was)

cheers, just wondered, have played the base game and for what it is, its not bad, pity GW haven't kicked the advanced version back into life

that said probably not hard to come up with more scenarios with an altered map

pondering ordering this

Historical HeroQuest did with Against The Ogre Horde, but if suuuuper hazy memory serves, it wasn’t properly part of the dungeon. Just the starting point for that adventure.

Likewise. I might pick up the Dread Veil dice and mat (or not since it's pretty expensive for a dice set).

It just occured to me that some of these could probably be used to link two boards together for a bigger dungeon layout... Might have to give that a try.

On topic - More expansions are always nice!

Firestorm has Ogre Horde listed for end of March release no further details out there - it hasn't been officially confirmed yet but I doubt they'd be doing preorders if it wasn't coming soon.

Though a completely different game, I'm fairly certain the Heroquest name, belongs to Hasbro. That, combined with the difficult and dated nature of the game make it far more likely that. GW would offer up a new version of Talisman or Warhammer Quest rather than AHQ.

I do think that GW could make quite a bit of bank if they were to release "Classic" Warhammer Quest that took the '90s version and did some model redesigns like Heroquest has done.

...Or did a made-to-order Classic version.

Sadly, can’t see either of this happening. Aside from the licensing issues, the old AHQ models are…not good. 20 monopose, low detail, Skaven? No, not going to sell. And the system was kind of designed to be a platform for the old GW bits service, with lots of snippets on how to convert up your heroes and villains.

Finally, whether you did a new or old version, there’s an awful lot of card stock, which isn’t something GW can make in-house, which means they’d be taking a risk on how much to order.

Box cover for Against the Ogre Horde that's all that has been shown so far and a confirmation of a March 2024 release. Will also include an Arena mode and three newly designed additional quests.

They kind of look like WoW orcs. Regardless, I'll be curious to see their minis as a big guy model aficionado.

If it's like the original Ogre Horde, halve the Ogre hit points and gradually increase until a challenge.

The Mage of the Mirror expansion already has an Ogre. I expect these will be the same general look as that one.

A few preorder listings appeared for a new expansion “Jungles of Delthrak” (and were later removed although some are still up) to be released in Q3 2024 rumour is it’s a water based expansion with serpentine type enemies and may also use a variation of the abomination enemy.

The greatest thing about HeroQuest is when you can buy it half price!

The greatest thing about HeroQuest is those of us in the UK finally able to get the Elf and Barbarian quest packs without having to sell a kidney.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And I’m getting the Dreadmoon Dungeon too.

Words cannot express how incredibly happy I am that HeroQuest returned. Classic for a reason, and I’m super chuffed it seems to have a market well beyond nostalgic grognards.

I know a few of my grognard friends are playing it with their 8-year old kids, and so the cycle continues.

Elf and Barbarian expansions procured.

As it’s a five week pay period, holding off on Dreadmoon for now. Though if Dad sends me Christmas money, I’ll pick it up then.

Have been playing through the base set at the local gaming club, going down well so far.

currently using some printed wood crates as corridor blockers, need to sort some proper stone marker blocks out as the card ones blend in a bit too well.

have, but have yet to use the expansions, though one or two players have had that "how many skeletons!" moment seeing them in the box

really loving "Social Justice Orc" and her mates too
