Ahh, hmm. I guess now that I know I'll act on it. So... 2 elite trandoshans? I'll have to think of something for the royal guards now that I know...

Today I painted many crows. Quite badly, as it happens.

I'd have put more effort in if they weren't so badly moulded. Especially the one that had no head or tail and looked so much like an egg with wings that I painted it up as a winged crow's egg.

They are actually shaded with greys but you can't really tell. Still, they get put on the board, shot full of holes, put back in the box again so hey ho.

I already painted mine but I'll think of something, kind of hate to drastically alter the paint job (not that I put much effort in at all) but maybe I'll figure something out.

Speaking of elites... is one of the fangly beast things supposed to be elite too?

That's a looot of crows. For what purpose do you use them?

More Fallout stuff as ever. The current build is a little something (or rather a big something) from Fallout 4.

I was going to start assembling my 15mm Greek invasion project, but I can't find them.

I've lost 2 entire lead armies in my hobby room. Gah.

So I'm back to starting the paintwork for my WOTR infantry. Those pesky Greeks will turn up eventually.

Probably going to put a bit more paint on some of my 21st Panzer Aufklarungs.

I probably won't get the platoon finished (for one, I don't even have enough half-tracks!) but I can make some progress on a couple of bases.

Got an awesome dakka deal on another Planetfall starter. Models are built, mold lines on bases (and the couple of minis that had minor flash) removed and everything's been washed and dried to remove mold release.

Headed to go buy some cheap flat black paint to prime 'em all up.

Other than dull coat, finished one of the two armies from the starter from last night/to now.
May take a break before I start working on the other one.

Just need to dull coat and both armies are D-U Double N!

Got my 40k back on and put together a BA Captain with Eviscerator (Seth counts-as or if Captains can take Eviscerators in the new SM book). He'll be facing off against the Space Hulk broodlord in a diorama for this month's challenge.

Now trying to see how much of a Blood Angels Honour Guard squad I can squeeze out of my bits box. So far I've got a potential 4, who with a Captain in tow should be able to make a nice assassination unit.

My airbrush has been massively helpful. I've now got pretty much all of the main core of my UCM faction basecoated.

That is a pretty nice ship! I could see a 28mm one making a great Tau superheavy!

3 projects on the go today, things are hectic on the hobby desk! I'm finishing the background to my BA vs Nid diorama, working on a Blood Angels Honour Guard, and doing test-paints of some 20mm Persians/Greeks. I want to try the Lion Rampant rules, and those two were the most complete matched historical armies I have.

On one hand, going through with this plan adds in the region of 100 minis to my paint queue, but on the other they are easy to just breeze through, and being in the smaller scale, it only takes about an hour a unit to get passable results, and with a bit of work I could have an easily-transported, low-maintenance game set done.

Decisions, decisions...

I have an Alexandrian Imperial, and Seleucid and Ptolemaic Successors armies somewhere in my miniatures that I cannot find (all Xyston).

I was planning to paint and sell them as a collection of DBA armies (From the size of each army, I could probably get about eight DBA armies out of each - with the addition of a few more elements of Xystophori, which Xyston really dropped the ball on making too big, along with their Republican Romans).

But they have been lost amid all of the 6mm and 28mm stuff I now have (I stopped buying 15mm when I discovered that 1) My eyes were starting to get too weak to paint 15mm to my satisfaction, 2) That NO ONE made even halfway decent 15mm Dark Ages Saxons, Goths, Vkings, etc., 3) Xyston's minis stopped being as well sculpted as their earlier stuff, 4) Corvus Belli stopped expanding their 15mm lines - I was promised some Republican Romans before they stopped).

But I know how that is... Losing minis amidst either clutter or too many boxes (no matter how well organized)

Oh...

And I am finishing up the unit of Thunderbolt Mountain Greater-Goblins and Goblin Archers (Hithaeglir Orcs/Goblins), FINALLY.

And working on designing some things for New Sci-Fi and Fantasy lines (finishing up the sculpting of one of my new Lesser-Goblins - and seeing if they will print in 15mm as well as 28mm/30mm, and doing some stuff based on the new Ghost-in-the-Shell: Arise Alternative Architecture series... They should go well with Infinity models).

A space wizard did it!

As for me...

I finally caved and bought this Revell Snaptite X-wing Fighter kit:

Its not a bad kit, but not a great one either. Some things probably need glued. Other things are probably gonna quickly wear out and no longer function (looking at the little landing gear pods on the underside). It's probably a bit brittle and all that but... really I got it for $13 from Hobby Lobby with their 40% off coupon... kind of hard to complain.

That, and its just about the right scale. The pilot it comes with is tiny but the R2D2 is large compared to it and seems more appropriately scaled to hang out with 28mm minis (and the imperial assault starwars stuff I have is probably closer to 32mm anyway..). Even though the pilot is too small, barely child sized compared to 28mm minis... I'm preeety sure you could shoehorn in a truescaled 28mm mini into the cockpit if you really wanted to... so I consider it to be 'pretty darn close' to the right scale.

I haven't quite decided what colour I'm going to paint my Ravens-B's. I may be classing them, my Raven-A's and my Wolverine Squad as 'Special Forces' assets, in which case they won't be following that colour scheme.

Final score for the day:
- BA Honour Guard squad finished, apart from freehand banner (need new brushes for that)
- Diorama interior very nearly done
-12 Persian Archers painted and awaiting basing, 6 Spearmen primed for the morning
- Greek and Persian forces arranged into Lion Rampant army lists.

A rather productive, if somewhat unfocused, day, I think!

More 15mm Soviet infantry, running them at Challenge next weekend so tied up with them, still at least the uniform is simple.

Today finished four anti tank rifle teams and base coloured a nine team platoon to finish all the new models I need, plus fixed an utter screw up I made on a panzer turret.

Note to self, need to brush varnish over decals, the airbrush doesn't put enough of a coat to stop white spirit taking them off again..

Totally sold on using oil paints for weathering though, more pigments due to arrive this week so my Su-100 can be finished..

And then I turn round, and see just how many more models I have to do... there then follows some quiet crying under the table...
