Because mercy for the hobby bank account is a blessing. Also some people don't like to work in resin or respectivly dislike gw quality resin.

Back on topic the standard from the command squad preveiw being in mk3, makes me think the command squad will be just an upgrade sprue like the special / heavy weapons to be used with both sets of armour.

I too am expecting an upgrade sprue set. Hopefully over two or three non-repeated sprues like.

Think I’ve got some unbuilt MkVI and I’ve definitely got unbuilt MkIII. So gonna sit and wait, see what shakes out.

With Solar Auxilia being imminent, are we thinking they're going to get a Battlegroup like the Astartes did or just dumped out as an Army?

And is there a good book to get an idea of color plates and the like?

I’d be surprised if they don’t get a big boxed set to kick them off.

What that might contain? I dunno!

If you can find Book 4: Conquest, they will be in there. However, generally speaking, it's gunmetal with some shoulder panels painted a spot colour.

Some sort of big box for Aux for sure, the question is will it be a limited launch box or will it stay in production. I hope the latter as a hordey army that wil still have plenty of resin specialists really really needs a cheap starter with Age of Darkness levels of discount.

Depends on what's been removed from the FW range.

Rumor is that they will be getting a battlegroup box. Valrak put out a video a couple days ago saying from what he understands (IIRC, I was a wee bit tipsy whilst watching) it will contain a command squad, a bunch of infantry, one of the new sentinels, a leman russ (which he seemed to think might be a new 30k only sculpt), and an "armored transport" which I assumed was a dracosan.

Well, inference from GW stock levels is once again proving unreliable

Last time I checked, the following kits were "Sold out online" (not just temporarily) but the Malcador Annihilator is now back on sale like nothing happened

I can see them do a catch-all Malcador kit down the road with all of the options in there, so battle cannon, Vanquisher cannon and twin-linked lascannon variants, plus all the hull options, but they'll probably do a Dracosan first, the boys need a transport after all.

well as was recently pointed out to me, the dracosan is basically built on a malcador chassis anyway, so its unlikely to be far behind a dracosan. Plus the dracosans a bit of a tank itself, what with its ability to fit a demolisher cannon. Best APC ever.

Would the twin gravis lascannon not be a little more enticing. Don't get me wrong, I adore the sturmtiger style of the demolisher with all my heart, but sadly it's in a weird place atm. Does a little bit of everything but isn't great at anything ya know?

Ruleswise, gravis lascannon has the demolisher beat everytime.
For 50 pts for the demo you lose transport capacity get a template that at most wounds 2 models and is ordnance on a transport.

Brutal 3 on a template has some potential. Like it can one shot custodes and with the 3 rolls there's a 50/50 chance they'll splat. Buuuut, that's pretty niche ya know? And cat armour will be re-rolling those saves unless you rend. As i said, weird little place.

For a cannon on an expensive plattform? That not wierd, thats bad.

I'd rather slap a demo cannon on a Malcador, stupid overkill on an already expensive model, but it makes for a brutal look.

The rule of cool is like half of what the Typhon has going for it.

I'm pretty excited for solar aux. If nothing else, I hope we get lots of good lore for them. I've been doing my own custom cohort for LI, and I might get a command squad to do them up as the same cohort but flesh out some of the details.

If we get plastic Aurox and Carnodon though... it might be all over for my bank account.

Ah I must have misunderstood, thought it was a Command Squad and also a sentinel that could be a command variant, but I guess not.

Hmmm... do you think the dracosan will have a bottom, or will they give it the rogal dorn treatment...?

A standard SA vehicle sprue does seem likely - perhaps with less on it than the Astartes vehicle sprue, but including an SA tank commander, some pintle weapons and a few accessories.

For the Leman Russ, they could probably get away with just a new turret (plus a choice of main weapons) and glacis, plus the distinctive trench skid. But the LI version has a lot of subtle changes from the current Russ model, including chunkier tracks and a revised engine deck - overall it is better proportioned than the WH40k version. I think the Heresy version will duplicate the LI design, and be an entirely new kit.

I expect the pair of trench rails to be part of the accessory sprue, along with spotlight, smoke, pintle weapons, hk missile, and commander with options.

frankly the way the current leman russ sprue with the tracks and lower hull on one sprue and and the upper hull and turret on another is perfect for the way they have been doing HH vehicle kits to share sprues,

they use the current track/lower hull kit and all they have to make is a new upper hull/turret sprue.

that gives them a new tank kit with only one new sprue, and if as majorwest says they make a solar aux vehicle accesory sprue with the trench rails on that it would go with at least three other kits
