Pre Orders for goblins and orcs are live. good gawd the prices. but I picked up the card pack, in case I play them later. All was as expected, EXCEPT the battalion / army box was hardly discounted at all. A sharp contrast to what a good deal the Bret / Tomb kings launch was.

I tried to pre-order some stuff but just got several 404 errors. So frustrating. I hate dealing with GW.

Every time I try to purchase something from them it is some version of "those aren't actually available" either because I missed some 3 min preorder window, or they aren't up for order yet or the links from their own article are dead, or they are already out of stock, etc. etc.

Every interaction just leaves me with an unpleasant taste in my mouth.

No doubt the painted one is the original metal giant, meanwhile they had to resculpt parts for the resin version due to damage to the original green

There's a few other differences too like if you look at that same lower pair of images the middle of the loincloth/belt has a different bit of detail in it too.

I'm guessing its because one might be the original model and one the resin reworked model and the painter worked on the earlier one so it was ready for launch whilst the resin photo was done on a production copy because photography is much faster.
I think this has happened a few times where a painter has worked on a resin master which then got a few minor details changed by the time we got a production model in-hand.

I see they decided to make the torso one whole piece since the original the belly and moobs were a separate slab. From the other photos it seems the legs are still two separate pieces so that should have also been made into a single piece imo. The metal kit was a real pain to put together so I kinda wanna get this for the easier build lol.

Panicked when I saw no night gobies in the new book, but then rereading the ravening hordes books they are the basis for the edition and the journals are specialist sub-armies.
There would be less that 5% of O&G players who would have the models to make the armies covered in the new journal, which I think is how GW plans on getting money out of us.
To be honest though there is that much variety in the original army list, I have no intention of playing the journal armies but may use a few specific units as allies.

Just hope down the track there will be a night goblin/spider journal and NGs do not disappear next edition, they have been a staple of WFB since almost the beginning and their AOS counterparts are now Squigs with moon worshiping gobblins holding on.

This, exactly. I got to Warhammer Community because I'm excited to get the Orc Shaman, click on the link that says "Preorder Now" and it takes me to... Night Goblin Shamans? What? Okay, well, let's try this another way. Go to Warhammer.com, and there he is right on the home page. Search up Orc Shaman, scroll down (yep, there's the correct model in the picture), fifteen bucks seems like a reasonable price (I've watched this thing go for 4x+ that on Ebay over the last ten years), aaaaaaand "Temporarily Out of Stock". WTF??? I feel kind of like a chump clicking the "Notify When Available" button.

Is this a one-time only reprint and I've missed the (probably 3-min as Gallahad mentioned) window? Did they just not make enough or did they all get scooped up by eBay scalpers? Why get people hyped up over something that you can't deliver on? Grrrrr...

To turn this into a more positive interaction/post, I'll turn to the community here: from dealing with this type of thing from GW in the past, does anyone know how these releases typically go? Do you think ol' Nazgob will come back into stock in a reasonable time frame, or did I miss my one shot at getting one direct from the source?

He'll probably return to stock once the buzz for orcs dies down- I suspect once they move on to releasing forces like Empire and they've had a chance to restock earlier releases once or twice over we'll see these metal models in stock consistently. That said, no guarantees with GW though. Could remain out of stock until the remove him from the range or replace the sculpt in a years time. Hard to say really.

Not only is this hard to judge against other releases, but GW have a bad track record when it comes to stock levels at the best of times anyway. Right now even if they restock him, hes going to get snapped up by those that missed the first wave or by more scalpers.

At least this will boost the 2nd hand market and bring prices down. I've already starting seeing 2nd hand stores seeing old world models from people grabbing everything at release.

2ndhand will go up and down with some big waves before it settles. Right now any army not released will go up; getting a spike when GW previews their release coming up.

It will then likely stay high all through the first big release wave for anything that isn't part of the release wave itself.

Things will only then calm down a good while after when the surge is over and you get "Oh wait I actually don't need a whole army" sets in and people sell off and such.

So 2nd hand will get a bump ride of ups and downs. Even so I wager metal out of production models will remain high. Market has grown and demand has grown so prices on those will clamber up. Print on Demand waves might dip it for a time, but will send it up again after the PoD is over.

We've also no idea if GW will do repeat print on demand waves either or if each army will get one or two and that's it.

You shouldn't have that long to wait for a reprint, seems the orcs have moved a hell of a lot slower than the other two.

More likely that they were always popular and more long lived than say bretts or TK so they've had a longer life span during previous versions of the game, meaning more 2nd hand availability or people with armies already.

I know I've had far better luck with picking up some 2nd hand gobbos in the last couple of months than I've had with picking up TKs in the last couple of years, so only had to get stuff this week that I've really really want a nice fresh kit for.

Yeah, it's not a coincidence that GW went with brets and tk as their first releases. They've been the most sought-after / expensive WHFB kits post AoS by a large margin. Likely there is just not the same demand for greenskins because they've been easily available in comaprison.

They are, but bear in mind that half the army is still available to buy for AoS, so it's likely people just focused on those, and the Orc range hasn't been out of production/hard to get nearly as long as the first two armies.

And from a purely meta pov the strongest parts of the army are Boar Boys, Night Goblins with Fanatics and Black Orks, none of which were in this wave.

Also this was a big wave all in one go so if GW had good production on one end then on the other customers likely burned out of budgets of what they could afford all at once.

So that might well have spread the load on what sold out of stock .

The re-released stuff, of which most had been available fairly recently compared to TK and Brets, as others have said.

The new stuff though? Book, Black Orc Bigboss and Cards? Sold out in minutes. The dice ar the only new product that didn't sell like hot cakes, and that's because they are faily expensive and frankly not that good looking.

Book's available all over the place. Element and Wayland have got stacks according to their inventory screens. Sounds like a case of panic buying rather than shopping around.

But the vast majority of those metals haven't been available for a very long time either. Only some of the plastics were around until fairly recently.

I was talking about the warhammer website

On most of the bigger sites in The Netherlands they also sold out very quickly.

Can't say for other countries, as i usually am inclined to only check those of the country where i live.

As for the re-releases: the troll hag has been available until fairly recently, orc Boyz and common goblins have never been very popular choices for the O&G army, the giant is so expensive and small; i think most people would buy a plastic giant or wait for the marauder and the common trolls are horrible compared to the stone- and river ones.

So there is some ok stuff in this release, but the heavy hitters (trolls, marauder giant, boar boys etc.) Aren't here yet.

Also, remember thst O&G have been a very popular army for as long as i can remember and tk and Brets were niche at best: there was just much more orc stuff sold over the years. Also, I've seen many photo's of AOS armies transformed into Old World armies. That was never a possibility with Brets and TK.

Brets and TK boxes were both great value as well. They had a new model and had the (new) rulebook in it, whereas the O&G box is lackluster at best, isn't sharply priced, doesn't include the book and doens't have any new models in it. The incentive to start a TK or Brets army was simply much bigger.

I don't think we can compare the sales of the other armies to TK and Brets. We can compare the O&G sales to the dwarves in a few months though.

There's certainly that element; plus the fact that right now there's hype and no models from GW so people are much more willing to part with more cash now before GW's official kits drain their wallets.
