Subject: Dead Man's Hand, Second Edition (Released April 20th, 2024)
Great Escape games came out with the Second Edition of Dead Man's Hand. The new starter kit is great with plenty of plastic buildings, sprues of supplies, and gunfighters to make any buckaroo happy to throw lead.
At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

I have a number of western minis, and even a few games to play with them, but no era-appropriate terrain to speak of. I'll be watching this with interest.
I'm just waiting on my pledge to ship. One of the designers did an interview for Wargames Illustrated channel the other day, goes over the Reduc box set and also the things coming out for the rest of the year, which is mostly 2 new books for spring and augest which will have 12 new warband lists and figures to coincide (mostly in metal)
I just want to chime in and say these buildings go together so well. The instructions are clear and well presented and the plastic is CHONK. I'm even looking at buying more because they're just so rewarding to build.
I'd like to demo DMH at a con coming up, but of course I am in the last quarter of pledges that haven't shipped yet and every day makes it less likely I'll be able to build and paint a table in time.

I received mine before the Easter weekend, and I had a lot of fun building them. As Tabletop_Magpie says, they come together very easily and, especially if you have one or two of the two-storey buildings, there is a lot you can do with them to make sure that they don't all look the same. I can highly recommend them.

Ouch mate, that's rough. The good news there is the little dudes are just as good to build and I have found with a neutral base/zenithal prime they paint up really well with a contrast and highlight.

Conversation is understandably centered on the amazing buildings, but has anyone played the game? Any impressions would be greatly appreciated.
I have one more guy to paint then I will be running through a solo 2 v 2 to see what's what! I'll report back but of course it would be MILES better if I had an actual person to play against.
So status update on my order, which has indeed shipped dead last, not counting backers who haven't filled out the pledge manager.
The packing monkey a) underdeclared it as a 90 GBP order when it's around 300 GBP as I got a lot of add-ons b) Forgot to pre-pay EU VAT
So I can choose to either forge a 90 GBP invoice and pay VAT on it again (yay tax fraud) or bounce the package and hope Great Escape get it right the second time.
How the Brits conquered half the world when they haven't managed to get a single package across the border without causing me weeks of drama since Brexit is beyond me.

In the past, I've been using Knuckleduster terrain, as the buildings are MDF. I also use home made scatter using the old Marx cactus and stones, as well as some real rocks on a base. You can get stoves and different buildings insides, such as the Jail, and the General store, but they are all made out of metal.
I was in early in on the original Kickstarter, so I have a few boxes that I never got around to the first time, as well as the Pinkertons, and Gunfighters/ Gunfighters 2.
The plastic buildings are a real treat. Those added on sprues with all that gear are a must have.
That VAT adventure in itself sounds like a horror show.

After some back and forth and enough stress to lay me into bed I ended up asking DHL to bounce the package today. I intend to publish a truthful and evidence based review of my backing experience with Great Escape Games after it becomes clear which of us will ultimately end up in possession of the 300+ GBP I pledged.

My pledge was refunded in full by Great Escape Games with no contention.
Have re-ordered all the stuff from an EU retailer.
That's good to hear. It's a shame but at least they did the right thing.

Does anyone know what the 4 sets are? Given we know one will be Mounted Riders
I've no special insight but if I had to guess:
Mounted Cowboys
American Indians
Mexican Bandits
Old West Civilians
But like I said, it's a guess.

Disappointed you had to go through hall that mither, but ultimately a decent result. That £300 might stretch a bit further with retailer discounts too, eh?!

Came out to around the same, I missed out on the KS freebies (the covered wagon and 5 extra dudes) but retailer had a 200€+ preorder special with an extra house.
It was said during the KS that DMH has a looot of plastics coming including more gangs, mounted gangs, and more houses. In the KS, plastic mounted gunfighters (boy and girl sprues) were listed as next stretch goals but weren't reached. Classic tropes like Natives and Mexicans were also all basically confirmed.
A few snippets from the comment section
We'll have our next big DMH release in July ("The Good" book and new factions), then August ("The Bad and the Ugly" plus new factions).
We also have some new plastic sets coming this year with the main one - mounted gunfighters - nearer the end of 2024.
The next book, The Good, is out in June and has 13 factions and a deck of 13 x 4 faction cards. There will be a large size deck available separately. This is identical.
The Bad and the Ugly is out in August. Same arrangement with the cards as The Good.
Apart from Lawmen, Outlaws, Cowboys, Desperados, all of the factions in the link above are in The Good or The Bad & the Ugly. There are 7 new factions which will be covered in those two books.

Male and female gunslingers on foot each have their own box, and the Kickstarter stretch goals did list both male and female mounted gunslingers, so that's two boxes they've probably already developed.
