The Excruciators are a force of Chaos cultists hailing from the forge world Excrucia.
Once, the Excrucians were but slaves to the Imperials on that world, living in fear, and dying of exhaustion or abuse. That was until an Excrucian psyker brought the word of Chaos to her people. The mere thought of such a powerful force, which defied the Imperium and offered ultimate freedom, drove the Excrucians to rebel. They fought their way out of the world's mines and manufactorums. Only through sheer numbers and fanaticism did they overwhelm their Imperial oppressors.
The Imperial reinforcements sent to annihilate the rebels expected nothing more than a horde of primitively armed barbarians. But the Excrucians had equipped themselves with armor and weapons from the manufactorums, and had steeled their morale with the ideals of Chaos. Against both, the Imperials reinforcements were wiped out.
Every last Excrucian has now joined the ranks of the Excruciators.
And every last one thirsts to wreak vengeance on the Imperium.
