What is this Army
The 42nd Valhallan are a veteran force, bolstered by attached elements from other regiments too decimated to exist in the standard SO&E. Organized into 6 companies (Anger, Bravery, Courage, Dedication, Eager, and Faithful), the most famous is Faithful. Led by Captain, now Colonel Zedowski, Faith Company was instrumental in purging the Necrontyr from Verdia VII, and destroying El-Marakesh's Mercenary Company on Utica IV, as El-Marakesh assisted Alpha Legion slave raiders.
The army list reflects Colonel Zedowski's promotion to Command HQ, and Senior Lt. Sorokin's restructuring after being placed in command of the company.

Now, you'll see a great many units I don't use, and some that I do use have been changed around, but you'll get a general idea of the 42nd's look and feel.
Unit Photos
Ah, speaking of units that I no longer use... This is my Heroic Senior Officer, Colonel Zedowski. I love the model, and I know he'll see the table top in larger games, but as of now, he's been promoted to Command HQ. He's probably up to eyes in Dataslates...
Ah, the PBI, back bone of any Guard army:
One of my alternate formations in the army, from the 72nd Utica, a desert world similar to Tallarn. Squad leaders wear red to mark themselves as Martyrs for the Emperor. They have a generally unsavory reputation, but Lt. Sorokin will not refute their effectiveness.
Another of my favorite units in the Army, one I use in larger games, the 242nd Ogyrn Auxiliary (the Fightin' 242!)
Why I Started This Army
How could you not love Valhallans? The models are great, they match up thematically with my idea of what an Imperial Guard army should be (more meat for the grinder...) I've had the majority of them for years; they've actually participated in the first ever US RTT held in the Glen Burnie Battle Bunker.
These guys are actually my second IG army, Tallarns being my first (a mercenary company led my the vicious yet dashing El-Marakesh!) Unfortunately, the Tallarns were not the best painted models in the world... I'm sure they've hit e-bay a few times now in various incarnations. I regretted getting rid of them, and so that's why I have the Tallarn mixed into my mostly Valhallan army.
Don't get me wrong, Marines are great and all, but Guard are really what the 40k universe is about.
