I want to see them too, but it's been like 4 days since the release. I would at least give it a couple of weeks to a month before starting to get annoyed.

Anyone remember how long into 8th it was before we got the FW Indexes?

My memory is that it wasn't very long, I feel like they were out shortly after the Army Indexes and before the Codexes. No pandemic in 2017 though so who knows.

Slower than was initially promised. FW had bit of rush seeing they heard of 8th ed and FW indexes when GW told it to rest of the world. So it too got delayed. It was said to come on day 1 with rest of indexes but got delayed. Don't recall how long though.

IIRC they released the 8E FW indexes gradually across the 2-3 weeks after 8E came out. They didn't all come out at the same time.

I remember the hype, and the disappointment.

So we've gotten previews of new starter sets, new terrain, and new models for multiple factions. And TONS of new primaris stuff. So anything on the new Forge World books that we were told would be available soon after the release of 9th edition? Nothing? Still? Hello gw, the old fw Indexes haven't been available for months. You're selling models without rules. C'mon, throw us a bone.

Yea, it's all screwy now. The Necron and Marine codexes should have been ready for launch. I'd wager we'll see FW closer to the end of the year at this point.

The fw books should be further up the schedule. The new ca doesn't have the foc changes for units we've already noticed in the new loyalist codex such as scouts moving to elites, but it does have foc changes to fw units. Sicarans and hellforged predators are now heavy support, and dreadclaws have moved from fast attack to dedicated transports (I think the loyalist dreadnought drop pod has as well but not sure). That would indicate that the fw books were at least mostly done when ca was finished, which seems to have been some time ago, while the codexes were not. I don't expect them to be released immediately, but you would think they'd at least mention them while previewing things that are still months away.

They *really* need an update.

GW tried that. Remember Wake the Dead? It was one of the last of the cheap army boxsets. Funnily enough, it was one of the worst sellers, too, as you could grab it weeks after release despite having both new SM Lieutenant and Eldar HQ available nowhere else. It was almost as bad seller as Phoenix and unlike it, WtD had really good price so even that excuse is gone. I like how people complaining GW doesn't do X vote with their money against them doing so when GW does two trials of X, then make surprised Pikachu face when GW concludes it was a bad idea and complain about GW being evil for not doing that

Imagine if we went 2 years without space marine or primaris releases, and just got stuff for other armies? Of course if it were up to me, each major faction would get roughly equal treatment each year, to help diversify the player base more.

We don't need to ""imagine"" because that was exactly the case in this reality. Between 2017 (Dark Imperium) and 2019 (Vanguard SM) there was nearly two year long period in which marines got nothing, not that you'd know that by listening to revisionist whiners who apparently think SM get five starter box sized releases every month.

Is this really true? I mean, discounting multi-part kits that came after ETB (I'm fine discounting that), what about the Redemptor? What about the Repulsor, that was pre-Vanguard, wasn't it? Marines also got new rules in Vigilus: Defiant, for what it's worth. So yeah, there was no 2 year period.

Gathering the Informations.

Redemptor and Repulsor came with the codex.
The Repulsor Executioner came out with Apocalypse, which was around the same time as Shadowspear.
The Invictor Warsuit came with the codex revamp, which saw the full kits for the Vanguard and was quite awhile after.

So... not Dark Imperium at least even if you squint, there has never been 2 years without Marines since 8th.

Not to mention how dishonest it is to claim you got nothing for any amount of time during a massive range revamp that is bigger than what the next 4 biggest factions combined get in the span of two editions.

If I remember right all the books are printed in China now - even the softbacks, but I could be wrong (BRB was China). Ultimately GW is at the mercy of other companies and their capacity to operate during COVID. Supply chains when whacky for a while too - sourcing paper, glue, and ink could be real issues.

Gone-to-ground in the craters of Coventry

All of the new stuff I got for 40k 9th was printed in China.
That'll be why there is a lengthy wait for Indomitus, I expect.

Even if the plastics are made in the UK, where is the packaging from?

The Warcry rulebook was. (Westdale)

Most books have 'C&C in China' or just 'Printed in China' on them.

Alas after 400+ pages all good things must come to an end.

With 9th officially out please feel free to start new threads on the Marine and Necron codexes and the app, as well as anything else percolating.
